Elite Sports Programme

Flexible Learning Tailored for Athletes

Balancing sports and academics is a challenge.

Milverton empowers young athletes with the flexibility and time that they need to pursue their goals and ambitions. By joining our programme, students can focus on their sporting commitments whilst also receiving an outstanding and continuous education.

Our flexible approach to timetabling and contact hours, alongside genuine partnerships with sporting academies, facilitates a more sustainable and productive training schedule, without the ‘top and tail’ of the school day that many young elite athletes contend with.

Our lessons are designed for the online learning environment, and as they are also recorded, students can access the content if unable to attend their live lessons, perfect for those taking part in tournaments or other competitions. The additional option of 1:1 tutoring is an added bonus for more focused support.

Lessons can be accessed from anywhere in the world, meaning that our young athletes can travel and study whilst away from their academy or when overseas for international competitions.

We also have extensive experience of placing students in US university sports scholarship programmes, which is often a preferred route after training in the UK.

Student-Athlete Programme at Halton Tennis Centre

We are delighted to announce that from September 2024, in partnership with Everyball Tennis Coaching (Halton Tennis Centre’s coaching arm) we will be offering a combined education and tennis programme on site at Halton Tennis Centre in order to afford prospective student-athletes the opportunity to excel in both these spheres whilst also balancing out their home, family and social lives.

Supervised online classes with Milverton’s specialist teachers will take place in Halton’s purpose built education room at the club on week-day mornings with tennis and strength and conditioning from early afternoon.

The tennis and strength and conditioning will be led by programme lead and chief coordinator Mike James and his team of level 4 and 5 LTA qualified coaches.  They have over 100 years of combined experience in junior high performance tennis having developed scores of national and international standard juniors over a 30 year period.
